For garden planting, plant 15″ apart in the row with 3-4′ between rows. Most varieties can be planted in pots, containers, windowboxes, even hanging baskets as well. They will yield well for 3 years and usually start to decline after that, most professionalls will re plant every 4 years or so.

Strawberries will be sent out now in pots as they establish better than from an Autumn planting. You will then get a full crop next summer.

A good variety for cloches, the fruit is well above the ground and has some resistance to Botrytis, grows well in most soils.   • Tamella Strawberry Plants

    In the first year the crop is early with large fruits, in the second season onwards the crop reverts to mid/late season with heavy crops of medium sized berries, fruits are an attractive conical to wedge shape with a fair flavour. Plants are very susceptible to Crown Rot in some soils. Now a well established very heavy cropping variety from Holland. A good choice for the north, plants will often crop well for five years or more.

    A new ever-bearing variety from H.R.I. East Malling. From a cross between Rapella and Selva. Tango is unique in that it typically produces the bulk of its crop during the mid-July to mid-August period, significantly earlier than all other ever-bearing varieties. The cropping then continues with a small yield until late in the year. Tango has consistently outyielded all ever-bearing and day neutral varieties in trials and is at least 50% higher yielding than Rapella!   • Tribute Strawberry Plants

     Tribute was given a limited UK release in the late 1980’s, having been released in the US in 1981. Named for the pleasing light shiny orange skin colour which is salmon-orange inside and well flavoured. Another heirloom of the strawberry growing history, this variety was raised in 1950.
