Strawberries

The wonderful new variety that we introduced in 1988. Honeyoye is a very early variety for picking early June onwards. The bright red fruits are medium sized, very attractive and have an excellent flavour. Very heavy cropping for an early variety, far higher quality, good, healthy growth and bright glossy red fruits with a firm, juicy, mouth-watering flesh. Easy to pick. Ideal for exhibition, by far the best flavoured early variety. A new variety from America with a great future. Very highly recommended, already the most popular early cultivar by far.

A mid late summer season strawberry popular in the States for many years, raised back in 1955. The fruits are large, shortly conical and a very glossy bright red with bold seeds. The inner flesh is often stained white until fully ripe whereupon the flavour is mildly sweet and pleasurable. A big, vifgorous large leaved plant, but produces few runners. Stock very limited. Laura is a new late Summer Season variety bred from Pandora and Cambridge Late Pine. Laura makes an easily managed upright plant displaying the abundant crop of well-shaped orange red berries to perfection. LAura has out-cropped Elsanta in trials and has shown resistance to both Verticillium Wilt and Blossom Weevils. Producing the bulk of its crop in late July, after most maincrop varieties, Laura is a very useful new introduction. Recommended.

Named after the Mountain, Marmalado is a midseason variety introduced from Italy. Very high yielding with very high quality fruits produced from a good compact plant that has the benefit of useful disease resistant. Easy to pick, the conical fruits are of good size and colour and keep well after picking. The flavour is excellent. Marmalado has the benefit of forcing well under pots and clothes and is highly recommended as ideal for garden culture. We are very pleased to have rebuilt our stocks of this cultivar sufficiently to offer it once again.

A variety with large fruits that have a tender salmon red flesh; flavour moderate but juicy and fairly sweet. A vigorous, upright grower. Mid season ripening.

With so many Perpetual or Autumn Fruiting Strawberries having been introduced commercially in the last 5 years, that Flamenco has established itself amongst experts as the most revered of all is remarkable. But its list of attributes quickly justifies its rapid rise to eminence. Quite simply Flamenco has outperformed all of its rivals in trials. The vibrant vermillion red glossy conical berries are outstandingly attractive, presenting the ‘perfect’ bowlful! An attractive strong growing plant with fairly open slightly spreading habit with displays the fruit well. The large bright red fruits are attractive, red fleshed and juicy with a fresh taste and good aroma. A large percentage of the fruits are of first class quality and the yield is very high giving a regular, continuous crop. An excellent variety, widely planted by those who ‘know’. Can sometimes be susceptible to Mildew.

A useful variety for its compact growth. Bright orange-red fruit.

Re-introduced by request, this popular older variety bears brightly coloured medium to large sized fruits, the flavour of which varies from reasonable to very good. A very good Autumn yield can be achieved from this variety by removing the flowers as they appear until the end of May. Produces a neat, compact plant. Many growers would not be without this variety as part of their programme.
