A superb new early strawberry.Quite an unusual new variety in many ways for ‘Mae’ has attributes more suited to the home gardener than the homogenized Supermarket industry the Horticultural Breeding stations tend to cater for these days. Most importantly Mae has outcropped all other early strawberry varieties in trials, this is hugely impressive because it is the earlies which are generally the least generous with their yield. Mae has more than a dash of the good old fashioned strawberry flavour, soft sweet and very juicy. It is not the most disease resistant strawberry you will grow but nor is it especially disease prone and the results this variety can achieve are very worthwhile. The flavour, handsome berries, naturally very early season and top yield make Mae an ideal choice we can highly recommend. Raised from ‘Marmolado’ a much older variety we have always rated highly and this is probably where the lovely, lovely flavour has come from, MAE crops seven days earlier than Elsanta and is ideal for pots, early cloching, the standard strawberry bed etc., etc.

We have in place very rigorous standards for the health,
providence and uniformity of all our fruiting plants & trees. Our Nursery and the stock we grow is
inspected and passported for health regularly by DEFRA experts [formerly the Ministry of Agriculture]
and we have in place our own stringent controls and inspection programmes to ensure our fruiting
bushes and trees are the best, most disease free stocks available and truly beyond compare.
We always propagate from certified stock where this exists and have the highest standards regarding providence
and grading. If only the very best will do – as it should – then you can rely on a Chris Bowers fruiting
plant to give the most exemplary results available. We firmly believe that only the very healthiest
stock can and does produce vastly superior results – and it shows.
