An important milestone in the long history of English apple growing. Raised as a chance seedling of the esteemed 'Bountiful' this is the first reliably self pollinating cooker and one which also incorporates the finest flavour and frost resistance together with naturally compact spur bearing habit ensuring an easy to manage and productive tree. The medium sized fruits are a bright green sometimes with a slight bronzy pink flush on the sunny side. The crisp pure white inner flesh has a superb flavour – at once tangy with a slight hint of cider but with a fine balance of sweetness and acidity. Whilst keeping some texture when cooked it does not break down completely making Norfolk Apple Pie not only superb for that classic dish but very versatile for baking, sauces and juicing. With this enticing flavour, ideal garden qualities and self fertile blossom Norfolk Pie is a culinary classic that is here to stay. Perfect for the one tree garden or as part of a wider planting programme. It is itself also a very good partner pollinator for other varieties spreading the [B] and [C] pollinating groups. Season October but with fruits storing well into the New Year. Highly recommended.

We have in place very rigorous standards for the health,
providence and uniformity of all our fruiting plants & trees. Our Nursery and the stock we grow is
inspected and passported for health regularly by DEFRA experts [formerly the Ministry of Agriculture]
and we have in place our own stringent controls and inspection programmes to ensure our fruiting
bushes and trees are the best, most disease free stocks available and truly beyond compare.
We always propagate from certified stock where this exists and have the highest standards regarding providence
and grading. If only the very best will do – as it should – then you can rely on a Chris Bowers fruiting
plant to give the most exemplary results available. We firmly believe that only the very healthiest
stock can and does produce vastly superior results – and it shows.
