Medlars

Related to the Quince, but only suitable for wine and preserves. Makes a very attractive tree, with a habit that is inclined to weep and is ideal for the ornamental area of the garden. The trees are slow growing, long lived and eventually making a tree on average 15-18’high. The flowers resemble those of the Quince, but are smaller. The russet brown fruits are 1-2″ in diameter, and resemble a rosehip. The flavour is only for the dedicated.
