The reason this standard 3’’ round jolly red Tom tastes so super-sweet is because it is low in acids and high in sugars which is good news for those who have trouble with acid fruits. It is also a good yielder, dependable and easy to grow - a delight!
AIRYLEAF
If you grow your Tomatoes on the patio then this is an obvious choice for it is a very attractive vine with noticeably finer, very divided ferny leaflets. It yields well with attractive bright red small plum-tomato shaped fruits. Very different and rarely offered variety.
*ALASKA
As might be expected this is a very easily grown and durable tom under most climates but not at the expense of flavour. Each deep ruby red,
green shouldered fruit is packed with true tomato notes.
AMANA ORANGE
Something a bit different, this immense, lovely pale shiny orange Tom can achieve up to 2ib in weight and is also blessed with a divinely unusual fruity flavour which some have likened to tropical fruit! Stock very limited.

As might be expected from the name, a Tomato from Italy - and they sure know a thing or two about Tomato’s, yet genuine Italian varieties
are scarcely come by here. This one was delighting Italian chefs over 50 years ago. A great flavour from this standard, medium sized orange scarlet variety which yields well and is also suited to all cooking purposes.

CHEROKEE CHOCOLATE

Appropriately this is an extremely beautiful and colourful Tomato with a brilliant blended red, yellow and orange scarlet skin. The firm flesh is vividly flavoured with true ‘essence of tomato’ !.

DIXIES GOLDEN GIANT
A big tomato which ripens to a soft yellow. The taste is distinctly mellow and sweet..... something different for your Summer salads.
DOUBLE RICH
Named because it has double the amount of Vitamin C than ordinary Tomatoes and this does seem to have enhanced the taste as well for the flavour is very robust and tasty. The flesh is quite a brilliant red inside which certainly increases the eating pleasure even further.

GREENGAGE
Astonishingly, raised pre1800. A small cherry tomato of vivid green, the intense sweet/tangy flavour is a revelation eaten fresh but also makes a wondrous chutney, baked with a little olive oil, or fried. Versatile and very, very tasty.

A small 2-3’’ plum tomato which suits preserving, bottling, chutneys etc admirably but also has a lovely taste fresh and is very easy to grow and hardy.
HALFMOON CHINA
Very elegant appearance, this distinctive, slightly ‘flattened’ fruit is quite a pale creamy orange and has a mild, sweet flavour. Quite unique and an attractive variety to grow.
HAWAIIAN CURRANT
A swoonesomely sweet and utterly charming little mini tom with long sprays of jewel like sparkling red fruits - about the size of a small grape. Irresistible picked and eaten straight from the vine and also the whole sprays make very good decoration an the kitchen bowl or table.
HAWAIIAN PINEAPPLE

From one extreme to the other, this is probably the most gloriously sweet Tomato of all; thin skinned, rosy red and absolutely to-die-for flavour...... Very old variety.
HUGH’S 1940
introduced large pale yellow, can attain 1-2ib in weight yet is well blessed with plenty luscious flavour, more full on than the usually delicately tasting yellows. Plant produces little leaf but plenty of fruit!
IMPERIAL
A very old and ‘proper’ variety with standard sized rosy red fruits which ripen over a long period; infact this variety probably goes on longer than any other. Lovely old time Tomato flavour.
ISIS CANDY CHERRY
A cherry Tomato so sweet you will never forget your first Tasting. Countless small round bright scarlet treasures all Summer long.
ITALIAN GOLD
Something different again - a yellow plum Tomato. Excels in the kitchen for all purposes, the firm flesh is very sweet indeed and maintains its texture throughout, also a delight to eat fresh as you pass by.
IVORY QUEEN
A most beautiful clean white variety whichm is very low in acids, possessing a light, mild, sweet and moreish flavour. A lovely contrast in the salad bowl along with other more gaily coloured varieties.
JAFFA
This German raised variety looks just like an orange with its pure bright orange skin and oval shape. Very beautiful but also a joy to eat with its bright, refreshing and vibrant flavour. One of the favourites here, well worth growing.
JAUNE COER DE PIGEON
Entirely unique and very quaint old variety, this is a mini plum tomato in yellow. The one and a half inch pear shaped fruits are pale yellow, a small bowlful is an incredibly lovely sight and won’t remain uneaten for long. The flavour is sweet and addictive. Very scarce, old and valuable variety.
JEUNE FLAME
Numerous little golf ball sized fruits of orange scarlet; this small Tomato has big flavours which simply burst into your mouth!
KELLOGG’S BREAKFAST
This one seems specifically designed for your eating pleasure for it is thin skinned, is absolutely dripping with juice yet has few annoying seeds! Ideal for slicing, sandwiches, buffet or salad, but also perhaps unrivalled for juicing and sauces. A great all rounder with a pale sunshine orange skin.

A Russian heirloom variety which eventually found fame in the US but has scarcely been grown here. Once you have made its acquaintance we doubt you would want to be without it. Not only does it have the vague appearance of a lemon, but the refreshing zip of its tangy aroma and flavour
are also reminiscent. Very productive plant, individual fruits can reach large proportions if thinned. Stock limited.
LILLIANS YELLOW HEIRLOOM
Gaily coloured primrose yellow fruits in abundance; as with all the yellow fruited varieties this is sweet and more-ish - perhaps even more so since this is probably the very first of the yellowskinned varieties, going back a long way. Very rare now.

LONG KEEPER
A highly valuable added dimension - a keeping Tomato which can be ripened in storage and will thereafter last up to 3 months - an incredibly valuable addition to the store cupboard, fresh tomatoes well into the Winter and beyond Christmas. The light orange fruits are very late ripening and go on ripening slowly, long after harvested. Deep rosy pink flesh, a good standard red tom with a very nice flavour. First time offered in the UK.
MANDARIN X
We were recommended to grown this variety by a tomato expert and certainly didn’t disappoint last summer with a huge yield of top quality mandarin orange medium sized fruits. The flavour is fulsomely sweet yet low in acids. Recommended as part of any planting programme.

Unusually, this is a German raised variety and equally unusually, it perhaps has the very finest flavour of all. Truly outstanding aroma and taste from this brilliant red, medium sized Tom. Hardy and free fruiting.
MARMANDE
The queen of all beefsteak varieties, this old French strain is legendary for its juicy, true Tomato taste yet is very scarce and seldom offered nowadays. Here is your chance once again to grow one of the most famous members of Tomato history.

MISSOURI PINK APPLE
Large, almost pure pink and with a distinctive, sweet yet savoury flavour, this is hardly likely to be confused with any other. Very seldom seen in this Country, but produced fruits of very fine quality and appearance here last Summer, despite the gloom.
MOONGLOW
An outstandingly beautiful globe shaped warm glowing gold tomato with a sublime, subtle and complex mildly fruity, sunny-sweet taste. Really lovely variety to grow, heavy cropper!
*MOSKOVICH
A real find, this rare and wonderful variety combines lustrous, shiny deepest red volouring with extrajuicy, powerful tomato flavours. Each 4-6 oz beauty is an eating sensation!
MYONA
The origins of this variety are shrouded in mystery; collected from a very old Italian gentleman who quite refused to reveal its history, Myona was even then highly sought for its stunning flavour. It is a plum tomato which fruits freely and has an intense flavour when eaten fresh and is ideal for salads, but this remarkable flavour deepens even more when it is cooked or preserved. Makes a great sauce too.

OLD IVORY EGG
Very lovely and very old small, egg shaped white Tomato with a fascinating, elusive flavour which is mellow, sweet and divine. Grow this enchanting oldie once again, you will not be disappointed.

ORANGE BANANA
A lovely little banana shaped orange plum variety which is sweet and lovely eaten fresh but also is widely used in America for paste recipes and the like. Different and appealing Tomato, disease resistant, no cracking or mottling of the fruits.
ORANGE STAWBERRY
A variety of tantalising complex taste and effervescent, bright rosy scarlet and orange blended colouring. Resistance is impossible!
OREGON SPRINGS
Early ripening, moderately sized and lusciously sweet and juicy. Renowned wherever it is grown for its flavour and always sought after.
PAINTED UKRAINE
This variety has a very beautiful, gay and lively ‘painted’ or striped skin and also just happens to be absolutely delicious! So many of these bright and almost gaudy patterned toms seem to have inherited an extra dash of flavour as well and this one is no exception.
PEACHE JAUNE
Early ripening and as sweet as any Peach, this pale golden orange variety has a lovely, nectar like flavour with true Tomato tones. A great favourite with young and old alike.
PINEAPPLE
A huge, up top 2ib each variety with a beautiful gold and red blushed skin. And the outstanding attributes don’t stop there. Not for nothing was this variety christened ‘Pineapple’ for amazingly the meaty, juicy flesh really does have more than a hint of luscious tropical fruit to
it, though undoubtedly still a tomato! Sliced it is pretty as a picture too for it has a distinct red ‘starburst’ at its centre. Very rare variety.
PINK PING PONG
One might expect a modern creation but this is actually a very old heirloom variety. Ping pong ball sized deep pink fruits, no novelty for the vines yield freely and the flavour is definitely to the front. Great addition to salads, lively both in appearance and taste and is diverse too for it preserves in jars and freezes well too.
*PIXIE STRIPED
A great little variety for pots on the patio producing a good yield of tasty, brightly striped toms, but also an attractive and enjoyable feature for the patio/seating area.
PLUM LEMON
A plum Tomato which is yellow and possessing a fine, citrus-like semi sharp flavour. Excels for many culinary purposes including roasting whole, frying, bottled, sauces and tarts where it is especially attractive.
POTATO LEAF WHITE
Unique hear, this ‘potato leaf vine’ produces bountiful clusters of rather large pale greeny white beefsteak fruits. As might be expected the flavour is mild, sweet - and very more-ish! Definitely one to try, easy to grow.
PORTERS DARK CHERRY
This one produces a long season of obligingly bite-sized pink cherry-tomato snacks. Eating them as you pass by becomes an irrepressible pastime many days during the Summer, a lively and sweet shiny tom with bags of character and taste.
PURPLE PRINCE
Valuable, very early ripening joy with glossy aubergine-purple fruits with quite a green flesh which is blessed with an intense, highly pleasurable flavour. Exceptional! Great to look at but even greater to eat.
RASPBERRY LARGE RED
Very full flavour and solidly textured flesh from this raspberry coloured Tom. A somewhat poor looking plant - but aren’t they so often the best for flavour!
RED KING
Usually one of the first Tomato’s of early Summer and very tasty indeed. An old time Tomato with an old time taste.
RED PEACH
Raised back in the 19th C, this very unusually variety does have a faintly downy skin, like a Peach. Comparisons with the flavour of a peach abound, and this variety certainly does not disappoint with its rich, fruity, sweet flavour.
RED ZEBRA
A Green Zebra cross, an absolutely huge yielder of vivid red and green striped fruits, very intense, tangy flavour ideal for cooking, bottling and frying, also recommended for those who like their fresh tomatoes with plenty of pizzazz.
ROSE
A large and leafy plant raised in New Holland who’s flavour rivals the most celebrated of all. A straight rosy red tomato with a nice glossy finish and a flesh which is packed with intense tomatoey flavours. Magnificent for all uses and highly recommended.
RUSSIAN LIME
Pretty, pear shaped yellow which certainly livens up the salad bowl but is perhaps at its best for culinary purposes because it makes great sauces and chutneys with some ease for it has a relatively dry texture. For anyone serious about cooking with tomatoes, this is a must-have.

*RUSSIAN ROSE
Luscious-looking deep rose pink fruits with plenty of sugar and juice. Very hardy and disease free; suits outdoor growing admirably setting a good crop of very attractive fruits.
RUTHS PERFECTION
A variety admirably suited to organic growing, this very late ripening super-sweet medium red variety was raised by a USA Tomato enthusiast. Needs very little attention and starts to ripen well after most others .....fresh Tomato’s at Christmas ?
*SIBERIAN RED
Ripens well even under cooler conditions and invariably yields heavily, around a 4oz tomato with a good bright colour and plentiful flavour. Does well incontainers, reliable.
SNOW WHITE
A beautiful, moderately sized pearly white green-tinged variety which is super sweet and juicy and a great favourite with children. A lovely Summer treat for weeks on end and quite different from any other variety.
*SOPHIE’S CHOICE
Invaluable very early and very hardy grower suited for outdoor cultivation, it is also highly disease resistant producing generous clusters of 8-10 medium sized red tomatoes. Good flavour, probably the earliest outdoor vine to ripen.
SPITZE
Very shiny, glossy vivid red skin to this uniform, shapely small bottle-shaped tomato. The flavour is so very sweet it becomes impossible not to pick and eat the fruits as you pass by......if there are any left this variety makes an extremely flavourful sauce and can also be baked or poached whole. Unusual and very likeable variety.
ST IVY
One of our absolute favourites, this majestic 1lb giant ripens to pure candle red and is blessed with a satisfying, tender flesh and lots of rosy, summery tomato flavours! Absolutely ideal for all your al fresco summer festivities.
ST PIERRE
This variety remains popular with professional French chefs who demand lots of flavour from their Tomato’s. Standard scarlet 2’’ round fruits in abundance; suitable for all purposes.
SUCCESS
An old favourite from pre 1912; a traditional bright red tomato with a real old-time tomato taste. Does extremely well in taste trials and is a reliable yielder too. A very lovely old variety to grow.
SUGARY
Produces huge amounts of perfect, small oval fruits which present a very attractive display on the vine with their brilliant pinkisg orange colour. A lovely little tom for snacking, adding whole to salads, and very attractive grown in the kitchen garden. As tou would expect the flavour is very sweet with high levels of natural sugar.
*SUNSETS RED HORIZON
A Tomato more gloriously coloured it would be hard to imagine.... each sizeable fruit is a multi blend of vivid scarlet, flame orange and gold. So often the best-looking crops are a disappointment to eat; not so Sunsets Red Horizon which has plenty of true tomato flavour. Firm fleshed and lasting well, this is a supremely impressive variety you will want to grow again and again. Yields till late in the season, resistant to cracking and splitting. Very hardy, somewhat cold resistant.
SWEET ORANGE CHERRY
Cascading clusters of lovelyto-look-at clean and sparkling orange cherry sized fruits. Very bright, refreshing flavour, loaded with sugars and juice! Lovely and very popular addition to the salad bowl, easy to grow.
SWEET ORANGE ROMA
A form of the popular and well known ‘Roma’ plum Tomato strain, in this case even sweeter and with an excellent taste. Plum Tomato’s are widely used in cooking and great for bottling, for juicing, baking and especially sauces. Sweet Orange Roma is great for eating fresh
too, especially if you like a firmer Tomato.
TANGELLA
This genuinely old heirloom variety has a bright, snappy taste which really bursts onto the taste bud’s! A highly productive vine with 2’’ round orange scarlet fruits in great abundance; which is as well for otherwise there surely wouldn’t be enough to go around!
TIGER PAW
Another increasingly popular striped Tomato which always seem to have that bit extra character of flavour. This is a large and handsomely striped fellow with aubergine coloured stripes of a marigold orange ground. Very rare variety, looks great in the salad bowl.
TIGERELLA
English raised novelty which nevertheless has a very intense, brisk and tart flavour which is refreshing and lively. Bold golden-green stripes over a marigold orange background, unique and very likeable variety which sure packs a punch both visually and flavour-wise.
TOPS
Very, very unusual and maybe a first - a deep pink beefsteak variety; hugely impressive and attractive, each 1-2 lb heavyweight is a smooth, deep pink in colour and astonishingly free fruiting as well - the vines are loaded! Good, fleshy, juicy flavour! Excels for slicing in sandwiches,
stuffing and baking.
UGLY
Something for a misnomer for this is far from ugly in appearance, although the fruits do lack the pristine evenness required for the Supermarkets. Their loss is our gain, for this rather large, up to 1ib in weight beefsteak is a real winner, those green ribbed shoulders pass through to deep red and the intensely coloured flesh is extremely juicy, tender and blessed with a fulsome flavour. Very wide ranging uses both fresh and cooked.
ULTIMATE GIANT
This is a real show-winner, thinned the fruits can achieve enormous proportions, 9’’ across is the norm even with no special treatment. The fruits are meaty, fleshy and with plenty of juice. A great variety for stuffing and baking and definitely one for the local Summer produce show!
*VALENCIA
Surprisingly, although of course haling from Italy, home of so many super-tasty Toms, this variety does very well outdoors with little protection. Rich, true, Tomatoey flavour in abundance.
WHITE GEM
A counterpart to the following with countless smaller, large-marble sized pure white fruits. A big hit with youngsters!
WINS ALL
Very disease resistant and consistent performer from 1925. Very flavourful with lots of juice, does not crack or blemish.
WOLFORD’S WONDER
Lovely heart shaped clean scarlet fruits which truly have a ‘wow’ flavour - very intense and sweetly vibrant. This tomato has few seeds and this, combined with its high calibre flavour results in an eating sensation.
*YELLOW GOOSEBERRY
Known as the little Tom with the big flavour....... racemes of many gooseberry sized golden yellow fruits bursting with super-sweet flavour! Pop them in whole and let them burst in your mouth - an eating sensation!

A counterpart to the popular Pink Ping Pong with masses of clusters of perfect small round golden yellow fruits, sweet, tasty - and addictive!
ZARNITZA
Translates as ‘Summer Lightning’ which is certainly most appropriate for this even globe shaped beauty is vividly coloured flame orange and red. The pronounced, satisfying flavour balance makes this definitely one to try and the useful, compact plant yields very well.

Very useful late ripening beefsteak variety with a full, sweet taste. Does very well outdoors, setting reliably. An old Polish variety, no less! |
