Intermediate between sweet cherries and acid (cooking) cherries, they should be grown and pruned in the same way as the normal, sweet cherry The fruits are juicy and have a pleasant sharpness. Less vigorous and only moderate cropping.

NEW CHERRY PENNY

A superb quality new British Bred Cherry with almost astonishingly large high quality fruits which are the most sizable Cherries we have seen. They are black and a fine sight on the tree, however we doubt they will be left there long enough to please the eye as they eat very well indeed! Penty of juice and good, sweet flavour. Penny needs a pollinator such as a Stella or Summer Sun but this is compensated for by its very high yielding character, hardiness and late season which gives fresh cherries long after the main crop. At only 3 years of age trees of Penny on Gisele have been known to yield 2.5-3 kilos of fruit per tree! Highly Recommended.
