CHERRIES - COOKING VARIETIES
MORELLO
A superb variety for growing against a north or east facing wall. The fruits are large and juicy with a bittersweet flavour when ripe. The fruits are round and dark red, the flesh is soft and is superb for pies, cooking and bottling etc. Crops are heavy and regular and are ready for picking August to September. The trees are only moderately vigorous and are very easy to manage. This variety is self fertile, so can be grown on its own with no other pollinators. Pruning is different for cooking cherries and is fully detailed in our leaflet the Care of your Top Fruits' which is detailed at the end of the catalogue.
NABELLA
A superb new variety introduced from Germany, where the results are exceptional. The medium sized, juicy black fruits are ideal for all culinary purposes. Very heavy yielding and good, compact growth. Excellent flavour. Self fertile, so no pollinators required. Quite superb. Proving to be a useful pollinator for other varieties. More resistant to die back than Morello.
