PATRIOT
Crops well with early, very good quality fruits. Often the first to ripen in mid/late July, a first class variety.
BLUETTA
One of the earliest to ripen in late July, the growth is more moderate and compact. Excellent flavour from the large, blueberries.
GROVER
An excellent new variety with very large fruits, dark blue with a waxy bloom./ Very heavy crops in early August.
WEYMOUTH
Dark blue, medium to large fruits. Rather an exceptional crop on a good, vigorous bush, early August.
NORTHLAND
Ripening 1 week after Bluetta, the growth is fast and very productive. Heavy crops of good flavour.
BLUE CROP
Crops early/mid August. The bush is vigorous and upright, consistently bearing good crops of large, firm, attractive fruit of very good flavour.
BLUE RAY
A sister seedling of Blue Crop, with similar characteristics.
*BERKLEY
Crops early/mid August. A vigorous, upright bush, bearing very large, attractive fruit of very high quality and flavour. Susceptible to Godronia Cassandrae, but an excellent garden border variety. The fruits ripen in early August.
COLLINS
An excellent, dual purpose variety that is outstanding for autumn leaf colour. A good, compact bush and high quality fruits with a first class flavour.
COVILLE
An upright bush, producing very high quality fruit. Ripening mid August with large fruits that hold well on the bush.
IVANHOE
Vigorous and very upright, good disease resistance. Ripening in mid August with heavy crops of high quality fruit that are darker in colour than other varieties.
HERBERT
A sister seedling of Berkley, moderate growth, producing very large fruits of exceptional quality. The fruits are lightly speckled and ripen in mid August. Considered by many palates to be the truest, finest blueberry flavour.
HEERMA
Very vigorous with heavy crops of slightly smaller fruits, the fruits have less of a bloom that other varieties. Crops well all over Europe, with very good disease resistance. Ripens mid August.
JERSEY
The fruits are very large, dark blue to almost black. Late August.
DIXI
Always seems to provide us with a good late crop of berries. Medium sized, light blue fruits.
GOLDTRAUBE
A later variety for cropping late August, large crops of fruits from a very fast growing bush. Good flavoured attractive fruit. Other varieties in trials available in small quantities:
DIXIE (Late), GROVER dark blue, very large fruits, WEYMOUTH., MADER and SPARTAN, all very early varieties; RUBENS promising new variety, AMM BLUE. ROSTINA, JERSEY and several more promising varieties. Picking times mentioned are average for this part of the country at 50% crop ripe. They will probably be a week earlier in the south and west, and 2 weeks later in Scotland.
